REPORT: Liverpool agrees deal to sign Irish star

According to Liverpool Echo, Liverpool and Trent Kone-Doherty have reached an agreement with the 15-year-old phenom set to join the Merseyside giants next month.

Kone-Doherty was rumoured to be moving to Anfield, and it now appears that a deal has been reached between the two clubs.

The Ireland U16 and U17 international has made an impact with Derry City at the youth level, and he has even occasionally featured on the bench for the Candytsripes in the League of Ireland Premier Division.

Kone-Doherty, a forward by trade, is regarded as one of Ireland’s most promising young players and has frequently represented the country’s youth teams. Despite having African ancestry, he has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to Ireland and is set to join Liverpool soon.

Liverpool have a coach in Jurgen Klopp who is more than capable of fostering young potential and turning them into all-stars. Although he still has a long way to go before he can be regarded as a member of the team’s senior side, Kone-Doherty will be looking for a similar degree of success upon his probable arrival at Anfield.

From that perspective, his potential relocation to Liverpool might be a positive step. The Reds have a top-notch youth training facility and have recently developed a number of great young players.

At Anfield, players like Curtis Jones, Neco Williams, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have all recently made their first-team debuts. Kone-Doherty, who is only 15 years old, still has a long way to go before he can follow in his footsteps.

But despite playing with seniors, the Irish wonder has already made an impression at Derry City, and it won’t be long until he makes a name for himself in the Liverpool junior system.

He is said to be playing as an attacker but this is too early an age for him to pick a specific position. It remains to be seen what plans Klopp will have for him if he seals his move to LFC.

Players like Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliott, and Trent Alexander-Arnold have seen themselves play in a position different to the ones they played several years back.
