Kola-nut is a very popular traditional food in Nigeria. Traditional ceremonies cannot be complete without the introduction of kola nut. Kola nut is highly regarded in the Southeast part of Nigeria.

Kola nut has certain health benefits. However, anything that is profitable also has its disadvantages. Although, kola nut has some health benefits, it also has certain health effects that make it unsuitable for people with certain medical conditions that they should eat.

According to WebMD, the side effect of cola nut may vary and grow, depending on the nutritional value of the nut. Kola-nut stimulates the heart, muscles and nervous system (brain).

Here Are Five (5) Groups Of People Who Should Not Eat Kola Nut:

1. People with high blood pressure:

People with high blood pressure are those with high blood pressure. High blood pressure is incurable and has the potential to kill. High blood pressure can also cause other health problems, such as heart problems.

Kola nut contains stimulants that can raise blood pressure and cause it to rise. People with high blood pressure should also try their best to avoid foods that contain cola nut.

2. Sleep Disorders:

Insomnia is a condition that prevents a person from falling asleep. People with insomnia, who find it really hard to fall asleep, people who are very sleepy find it almost impossible to fall asleep and may need strong sleeping pills to fall asleep.

Poor sleep is very dangerous and can lead to many serious health problems. Therefore, people with insomnia or, sleep disorders should not eat kola nut or, products that contain kola nut because it contains stimulants such as caffeine that prevent a person from falling asleep.

3. Heart Problems:

As mentioned earlier, kola nut stimulates the heart which makes it unsuitable for people with one heart problem or another.

For example, kola nut can cause abnormal heartbeat in a person.

4. Shivering:

People with autoimmune diseases should avoid eating kola nut.

People with epilepsy, such as Parkinson’s disease, should not eat kola nut at all because kola nut stimulates the brain and the central nervous system, which can cause tremors.

5. People with Anxiety Disorders:

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines anxiety as fear or, fear, something that can happen.

It is not uncommon to feel anxious at times, however, major anxiety is a psychological problem that sometimes requires medication and treatment to cure.

Kola nut stimulates the brain which can cause anxiety which makes it unsuitable for people with anxiety disorders.
